SHOULD I WORKOUT WHEN I’M SICK? It’s pretty obvious our immune system will already be stressed when we are sick — so asking your body to complete vigorous exercise can make you sicker. Low intensity is the best option with symptoms such as sore throat, coughing, runny nose. No exercise for muscle/joint pain, fever, diarrhea, etc. It’s also important when you do feel better to consider easing back into your routine. If you were out for 3 days, take 3 days to ease back in. Lastly, washing your hands and wiping down the equipment in a gym setting is great this time of year to keep your immune system healthy. And please for the sake of rest of us, stay out of the gym as you are more likely to spread your germs. PREVENT GETTING SICK: Hydrate + Rest and Recover + Manage Stress (psychological, environmental, and so on) The consensus: Let your symptoms be your guide and use common sense.
