WHAT DOES IT DO?
Magnesium is directly involved in over 300 metabolic processes including carbohydrate digestion, insulin/blood sugar regulation, and fat/protein metabolism.
Essentially being deficient can cause even a good diet to do poorly.
Magnesium is also directly involved in muscle tension/relaxation mechanisms. A person who is very tight, or sore very often, or low back pain can benefit directly since Magnesium releases tensions in muscles.
WHO NEEDS IT?
Basically everyone. Typically 80% of the population is deficient in magnesium, unless we STRIVE AND SUCCEED to get it from our diet, which would be higher particularly in nuts, seeds, and vegetables.
Factors that influence our magnesium include physical and emotional stress, alcohol/coffee consumption, exercise, excessive sweating, and certain medications such as birth control, antibiotics, diuretics, etc. These factors cause us to require extra magnesium to compensate.
The magnesium chelate form is easier to digest.
I would also suggest dosing Magnesium separately from any vitamins because it's a jealous girlfriend and competes for absorption. Lastly, because it calms our central nervous system, I would suggest taking in the evening and if you are taking the PM multi, take them 30 minutes apart.
